The George F. Hammersmith, Sr. Community Room is named for the Bank's founder. Mr. Hammersmith was born and raised in Elmhurst and was a pillar of the Community throughout his entire adult life, until his passing in 2004. He established the Community Bank of Elmhurst in 1993 with the help of his friend William C. Gooch, Jr. He will be forever remembered for his warm smile and dedication to his family and community.
