COMMUNITY BANK HOSTS MAYOR DICIANNI'S FIRST "STATE OF OUR CITY" ADDRESS

The annual State of the City event took place on Tuesday, January 12th with a capacity audience in the George F. Hammersmith, Sr. Community Room within the Community Bank of Elmhurst.  The breakfast event featured welcomes by William C. Gooch, Jr., Chairman of the Board of the CBE and Scott Levin, Chairman of the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce and Industry Board, as well as, an update on the Chamber by John Quigley, President and CEO.  The keynoter was Elmhurst Mayor Peter DiCianni speaking at his first State of the City event.  The Mayor spoke about issues within the City currently and looked to its bright future as well.  He announced a name change for the event from the State of THE City to the State of OUR City going forward recognizing that leadership of all sectors and the full community itself must work to move Elmhurst ahead in these still challenging times.

Ken Bartels, Senior Vice President and Director of the CBE closed the gathering with this quote from the late John M. Henry, journalist, "Yesterday is experience.  Tomorrow is hope.  Today is getting from one to the other as best we can."  The State of Our City event in 2011 will be on January 18th.  The 2011 year is the City of Elmhurst's 175th Anniversary.
